I recently bought a laptop and it was included in the windows 7 upgrade program. However, I would rather use the upgrade on my desktop pc instead. Will this work and am I allowed to do this?
Yes, the license is good for one computer. It doesn’t matter what computer it is on as long as its only one one of them.
That being said, some pc manufacturers will give you an upgrade disk that is coded to only work w/ the computer it came with, if that were the case you wouldn’t have the option of installing it on the other computer.

Yes it will work and yes you are allowed to do this. The CD media wouldnt be the issue. The license key would be the issue. Should you choose in the future to upgrade another machine all you would have to do is contact microsoft and purchase a license key.

People haven’t received the free upgrade discs yet to confirm how they work. It’s possible they’re tied to the manufacturer or something comparable.
If they’re like the normal upgrade discs, however, you can use them on whatever machine (with prior genuine OS) you want. They’ll simply get tied to the first machine on which they’re activated.

The answers is Yes, it will work on any other PC if you will do the upgrade from XP / Vista, But as soon as you will activate it you won’t be able to use it anymore.
This is I am getting Windows 7 with 3 licenses :))) By the way it is much cheaper than buying 1 license, Cost me about $49 per license.
Just got it from Amazon: http://bit.ly/win7promo
Good luck.
