been thinking of renewing present pc with an Apple 20" pc ,can anyone recommend any particular model and where can I purchase a good refurbished or good as new one?

Check out the Special Deals (on the bottom right hand side of the main store page) for special offers and to buy certified refurbished items.
If you're a student, it would be interesting to see their special store section for savings not available to general users (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukInd )

Aside from eBay or looking through the papers, sometimes your best bet is to look at apple resellers. They often have second hand stock.
