This is an unboxing and first impressions video of the Dell Adamo laptop. This is the “Admire” model ($1999 CAD/$1499 USD as of Sept 2009), which features a 1.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (SU9300), 2 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD drive, Windows Vista 64-bit, a 13.4 inch 16:9 aspect ratio 1366 x 768, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 2.0, a back-lit keyboard, two USB ports, one USB/eSATA combo port, gigabit Ethernet, Display Port out (it comes with an adaptor for Display Port to DVI), 802.11n WiFi, built-in speakers, and a 40-watt hour battery. It has no optical drive, nor any memory card slot. This is the Onyx version - it also comes in Pearl (white).

I don’t think …
I don’t think you’ll ever see a laptop with design and materials like that for $999 - they’ll always be a premium charge for premium materials and design. Personally, I don’t mind the price - if the hardware was more impressive. If it had a 256 GB SSD, a real GPU, and a 1.8 Ghz or more CPU, and 4 GB of RAM, I’d pay $2000 for it.

Ugg…the Samsung …
Ugg…the Samsung N310 has a huge Samsung logo on the front - so huge it takes up the entire width of the laptop. That’s so ugly I can’t imagine anyone buying it…so I don’t think I’ll review it. If they got rid of the huge logo, it would be a great-looking netbook.

I already have a …
I already have a wide-angle lens adaptor on my video camera - that’s as wide as I can go without moving the camera back and showing the wall and desk, which I don’t want to do because it would look ugly. I’m hoping to re-work my shooting setup this year and find something wider that would let me show larger products without problems.

Thats actually pretty cool how dell put all the ports in the back. I think thats more convienient instead of having wires sticking out of the side when you’re plugging it into things.

urgh, dell going …
urgh, dell going with style premium price. The hardware is really not that good, their XPS and studio’s are much better performance wise (and alot cheaper) It looks good but for the price, surely not worth it. Though I guess there is a market for ppl who buy things for aesthetics lol
