o I live in Nigeria and I happen to have a free XO laptop thanks to the OLPC project. First of all I would like to thank everybody who participates in this wonderful project, that allows us children, living here in the 3rd World to gain access to the Internet and learn more about the world itself. Thank you for creating this project and God bless you. I hope that soon every child living in poor countries such as Nigeria will have the opportunity to use this great educational tool. Thank you!

Well we’ve got two choices here, we can keep them uneducated but semi-well fed, living in squalor and dependant on people whom many of which couldn’t really care less about the longterm well being of the people they claim to want to help.

OR as we feed them we can at least make some effort to inspire them to use their brains and find their own ways of providing for themselves, leading to the day when they won’t need any help. This project is just one step towards that, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

I think that the technology is great, and that its features are great and I love its simplicity and that their so cheap. but i really hate how they look. I don’t know who decided that green and white were meant to go together. Black would have looked cooler and the antennas that are for the wifi access are horrible.

      From Bangladesh:
The total cost of this apparently benevolent project have probably exceeded millions of dollars. Wouldn’t it be better served building simple book libraries in developing nations? You know, a book (Those series of pages with black squigly lines) is a proven technology for thousands of years.

With 100 dollars we can buy 100 books for a kid.The laptops are sold to governments.(from “OLPC” in wikipedia) Why should my govt spend millions for your American idea of tech education?
