My old laptop I have is starting to die on me and it’s time for an upgrade. But I’m a student in college right now, and money is pretty tight. I need a cheap laptop that will be good for simple things like Microsoft Word and connecting to the internet. I don’t even care if the laptop is refurbished, I just need something basic.
I’d recommend a Hewlett Packard (HP) or a Toshiba laptop, because they both have good laptops for a small price.
If you’re getting an HP, then you should see the Pavilion series (dv6, dv7) or the Compaq series (Compaq 600, 610, 6720, 6730).
If you’re getting a Toshiba, then go for the Satellite series (A300, P500, P300, A500).
There are also good and cheap Samsung, Acer and Asus laptops.
Hope this helped!

If your needs are just basic computing, surfing the web, email and creating documents and not graphic designing, then An Acer A0d250 will do nicely. Its portable, 14.1 inch screen, goes for less than $300
