i am interested in buying a refurbished laptop from apple, i can still get the same warranty as with a new one, so what is the difference. please explain and tell me if it is a good investment.
"refurbished" refers to a product that was purchased, returned, and is now available to be resold.
You would have to check the warranty to see what would be covered…
I would assume you would be able to get the same warranty as you would if you purchased it non-refurbished.
All-in-all, it’s like buying it used… sorta.
I order a refurbished Ipod classic from the online apple store and i was wondering how long does it takes to arrive from here? It would be great if it arrive by the Feb. 6th or 5th cause i’ll be gone skiing on the 8th.
it would come within the week you orderd it, Apple usually gets there items shipped the next day and you would get the item within 2-3 days prior of ordering
I went to pawn my 360 for a loan, and they wouldn’t take it because I was a refurbished unit. I bout this thing brand new at a game store for $299.99. How the fuck is that legal?
It is not microsofts fault, they just make the stuff. Many game stores buy used game systems and refurbish them to sell again. When you bought the 360 was it new, or did you just think it was? Just because it is packaged and looks new, does not mean it is. Unless it expressly said it was new, then it could have legally been a refurbished system.
i would like to nuy a netbook from canada computers but it is refurbished but it is $259.99 but i can get the same product for $299.99 at bestbuy but i don’t know what the difference is between the two?
The refurbished one could have had a bad part and the manufacturer replaced it and they are now selling it as refurbished.
I decided i want to get a mac notebook but i am going to get it refurbished, what website is good that is cheap?
localgarbage.com
I have a 8GB Ipod Touch 1st generation. My ipod touch is still in great quality and there are barely any scratches at all. The only reason why I want to have mine refurbished is because I want to trade it in for the new generation ipod touch with more space (possibly a 16GB or 32GB). How exactly do I have my ipod touch refurbished? Is reburishing sort of like getting refunded, except for a smaller price?
umm….
heres a website that u can buy ipod parts but it might get expensive
http://www.ifixit.com/
im also trying to refurbish my ipod but i cant find out how to
sorry i hope that helped a little bit
If there is a sale or coupon code, that is fine, and I already checked Apple’s refurbished site. I don’t need that much space so 8 gb will be fine.
$179 for refurbished and $215 for new

Should I save money and buy used or refurbished? Is it better to just buy a new one?
Hi there (my 1st answer ever!),
Xbox 360 consoles are notorious for developing faults. Some people blow this out of proportion and will claim the ‘Xbox 360 sucks’ and make all manner of unjustified comments about the system. I have owned many Xbox 360 consoles and have only ever had 1 go wrong (after 3-4 years of use).
With this is in mind i would say:
1) The newer model Xbox 360 consoles (nick named ‘jasper’ units) use less power and therefore heat up less. This goes some way to preventing the notorious RRoD (Red Rings of Death). To see if the Xbox 360 you are about to purchase is a ‘jasper’ model look on the back of the console near the power supply input for the term ‘12,1A’. If the Xbox 360 has this it is a newer ‘jasper’ model and very reliable compared to the older models.
2) Alot of people buy up broken Xbox 360 consoles (usually RRoD units) and fix them themselves. There are a few methods used to fix the console and most only offer a temporary fix (approximately 3 months). This is not a hard and fast rule, some fixes may last longer or indefinately, its very hit and miss. So when buying a ‘used’ Xbox 360 you have to be wary.
3) Personally i have bought many games consoles 2nd hand and had absolutely no problems whatsoever. However the current generation of consoles have so many potential things that can go wrong that i am cautious. I would advise caution. If you buy the refurbished/used Xbox 360 from a shop (CEX for example) you will get a gurantee and that can be invaluable where used consoles are concerned. However make sure you grill the staff/store on the nature of the gurantee and what it covers before parting with your cash.
4) Did you know you can currently buy a brand new Xbox 360 Elite, which comes with a 120GB Hard Drive and 2 new release games, for £199.99 from Game and if you look around (Zavvi online and Argos) you may even find the same deal for £189-195. This is a very good deal. You can, if you wish, sell the 2 new releases for £30 each on Ebay (if you have an account on Ebay) and that makes the brand new Elite Xbox 360 only £140 when all is said and done. Bargain!
Things to consider when buying a refurb/used Xbox 360:
A) Has it ever had RRoD (this is a serious problem - google it and you will understand why).
B) Has the console been banned from Xbox Live (it could be being sold for that reason and you wont know untill you attempt to use Xbox Live). A ban cannot be reversed and Microsoft will not enter into discussions regarding bans (easily). Often a banned console has been ‘flashed’ (this means it has been modified to allow the playing of downloaded Xbox 360 games) and if the console has been flashed microsoft will presume you (the new owner) to be using illegal copies of Xbox 360 games.
C) Is there a ‘disc read error’ - its not uncommon for a heavily used disc based console to develop a ‘disc reading error’ (meaning it either wont read games/discs at all or it will intermitently skip/say the game disc needs cleaning).
Apologies if i have missed anything vital. Anyone else have anything further to add?
I have worked with videogames on and off for 15 years and the above information is based upon my own experiences.
Hope this helps.
(added info): As you can already see by the first response to your question people will be quick to point out ‘the Xbox 360 sucks’ and i expect you will receive a number of ‘get a PS3′ comments to your question. Always buy the console that best suits your needs and try not to be steered into making a decision by ‘fans’ of a particular system that are always more than willing to say ‘get this or that’. The Xbox 360 is actually a superb gaming platform, as is the PS3, and if you take a short look online you will find that the Xbox 360 is often considered the better gaming system by developers and people who actually know what they are talking about. Both consoles have their respective good and bad points - depending on what you want from a games console.
I want the samsung impression but i saw that the refurbished one was cheaper so is there any difference between them?
should i get it refurbished or not?
refurb phones are a great deal they are phones that are sent back to the company. they are givin new face plates so they look new and they fix any internal problem that they may or may not of had. Basicly you are getting a brand new phone. They still come with warentys just shorter
So Apple came out with new iPod Touches on September 9, 2009. When will they most likely start selling refurbished ones? They now sell refurbished ones of the old kind, but I want one of the new ones. On average, how long does it usually take them to start selling refurbished?
Probably during the holidays or later.
