  • What laptop is light-weight, has good battery life, good looks and is recommended for home-use purposes?

Posted by admin on October 24th, 2009 and filed under laptop | 3 Comments »

I will be utilizing the laptop primarily for browsing the web, chatting, etc.
I will also be playing MS Flight Sim.

What are the recommended minimum specifications, in terms of:
    1. Memory
    2. Hard Drive
    3. Screen Size

However, weight and battery life would be the deciding factors.

Is it true that HP makes the best laptops? How are the HP Mini Series and Pavilion DV2?
    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

You should check out this site: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows7/products/windows-7?os=win7 and select the link titled "Find the Perfect PC" on the right of this page.

How to connect from laptop in a workspace to laptop in a domain?

Posted by admin on October 11th, 2009 and filed under laptop | 2 Comments »

I have two laptops. Laptop A is my home laptop that is in some Home workspace. Another laptop B is my work laptop that is my corporate domain. When I bring laptop B to home - there is no domain controller. So when I’m trying to access B from A it says that you can’t do that since there is no domain controller. I just want to share a printer that is connected to B. Is there a way to still doing that?
    Question: What is KVM?

If you want to share printers, just use a KVM switch.

    Laptop????

Alright, I want too purchase a laptop but I’m unsure which one too buy. I am a teen and I want a cheaper laptop but one that is still a trustworthy brand and one that won’t break after 2 monthes.

I would prefer it if the laptop had Adobe Acrobat{version 4 or above}.

And obviously I want one that can access internet

What do you suggest? And where do you suggest I should buy it from? Walmart? CircuitCity? Best buy?

For a cheaper laptop with good quality you should consider going for HP or Compaq.

The price is very low beginning from around $400.

They will offer you wonderful features and Good looking appearence at very low prices.

As far as buying is conseidered, got to any authorised Hp reseller. The guys out there should help you out.

    Hope this helps you.
    Enjoy shopping!

I have a budget of 60000 pesos to buy my own laptop. What is the best laptop with this worth? I want laptop with good specs of course. Thanks!

That’s a big budget for a laptop. You can get Alienware M17. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Can you connect a laptop to laptop via male to male vga cable?

Posted by admin on October 5th, 2009 and filed under laptop | 5 Comments »

Say i have 2 laptops and on one laptop the screen is black but i can hear the drives/fans spinning, can i connect this dead screen laptop to a good laptop via male-to-male vga (or DVI) cable to see if if it’s just the screen that the problem is with?

I suppose i would press Fn + F7 to switch to the other laptop monitor.

I know you can do this with an external monitor but how about laptop to laptop?

Nope. One end has to male and the other, female.

What laptop has the best memory and is reliable for schoolwork?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under laptop | 1 Comment »

I’m in high school and I need something I can load 40 GB of music on and around 20 GB of pictures and still have a smooth reliable computer to do schoolwork and have streaming video.
So what’s the best laptop out there for under or around $1,000?

Also, I’m not a huge fan of Macs, so would Vista work for me?

I wouldn’t recommend taking anything to school that had 20gb of pictures on it–you’d be a prime target for theft, and you don’t want your private pictures falling in the wrong hands.

Anyhow, I would recommend something like the ASUS 1000H–it’s a tiny 10.2" laptop with a nearly full-size keyboard, and will last 7 hours per charge. It also comes with a 160gb hard drive, and retails for less than $500

How to connect a laptop to the internet?

Posted by admin on September 27th, 2009 and filed under laptop | 4 Comments »

I have an Acer Extensa 2300. I want to connect it to an existing internet connection thing that we use for our desktop computer. So I plug in the modem thing that plugs into our desktop into my laptop, but it doesn’t work. Do I have to set up something on my laptop? I’d like it to be wireless. If I plug a wireless adapter into my laptop would it be able to connect to the modem that is used for the desktop?

According to the manual, your Extensa 2300 can come with wired (RJ-45), wireless (InviLink 802.11-B/G) or (more rare) both.

It’s normal that it does not work instantly when you plug the modem in your laptop directly as you need to set it up in the laptop first just as it was done once on the desktop.

Now there are many ways to set this up:

    A) If you are using the laptop to replace the desktop completely, you need to set it as per your ISP (Internet Service Provider) instructions, check for it online @ their support web site.

    B) If you will be using both, you need to buy and set up a (wired/wireless) router and then you will be able to use up to four computers. I use a Linksys @ home.

Check if your version of the laptop came with wireless B/G or not.

If it came with wireless, you just need a router with wireless capabilities and to follow the instructions in the box that comes with it.

You only need to buy an adapter if 1) you have no wireless built-in OR 2) you want wireless-N capabilities (which offer a broader range and distance for linking)

    Hope this helps

P.S.: If you don’t have the manual, you can get a copy here: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Acer-2300-Laptops-manual/id/614ci975/t/2/

    Laptop!!!!?

my left click button is getting loose and its turning wack.. I came up with an idea of plugging a mouse into my laptop so I don’t have to use the touching pad and left/right buttons on my laptop. But when I plugged it in..It says that USB device is not recognized and .. the usb attached to my laptop has malfunctioned..

    how do I fix that?
I need to use to my laptop for class tomorrow…my goodness!!

    I appreciate your answers.

Happy to help Heidi….please use the "Add Details" to give more details when you answer my questions…thanks…anywayz…

    1. Can you tell me, is your USB port working properly…Do you have other USB peripherals that you can plug into your USB port(s) to test that it (they) are working fine? This will help identify if its the USB port(s) or the USB mouse itself that is the problem….Please check….

    2. If we find it is the USB mouse then it sounds like we need to find you your USB mouse driver…I will need you to tell me the exact name of this mouse including its Model # (it tends to be labeled on the side facing the table…

    3. If we find its the UISB port then we may have to remove your ports from Windows and reboot and let windows reinstall them…TO do that you will have to go to device manager by popping up the Run Window: Windows-Key+R, then type devmgmt.msc.
