My old laptop I have is starting to die on me and it’s time for an upgrade. But I’m a student in college right now, and money is pretty tight. I need a cheap laptop that will be good for simple things like Microsoft Word and connecting to the internet. I don’t even care if the laptop is refurbished, I just need something basic.
I’d recommend a Hewlett Packard (HP) or a Toshiba laptop, because they both have good laptops for a small price.
If you’re getting an HP, then you should see the Pavilion series (dv6, dv7) or the Compaq series (Compaq 600, 610, 6720, 6730).
If you’re getting a Toshiba, then go for the Satellite series (A300, P500, P300, A500).
There are also good and cheap Samsung, Acer and Asus laptops.
Hope this helped!

I need a Server/Workstation and 6 workstations. The Server needs about 80 GB hard drive. I have the flatscreens already. I’m looking for the cheapest, most reliable computer out there, and don’t know where to start.
the cheapest most reliable computer is often the one you build yourself. you remove the middle man and get great deals
I’ve seen some good deals online with product support packages, but am unsure as to how reliable refurbished PC’s would be.
Any insights would be much appreciated.
got a refurbished laptop a year ago, and it’s still going strong!
My daughters have a desktop computer and my partner has a laptop which connects to the wireless with no problem. When i try with my desktop it comes up with wireless connection ‘not available’, Why is this?
My computer has an ethernet card.
your desktop may not be wifi enabled if so then you have to connect using a ethernet cable into the rear of the router or buy a wireless usb adapter so that you can connect - hope it helps
I know that, Worst are Pentum D and Pentium 4, Core 2duo is good. Are smaller desktop saves money for electricity?
Brand name won’t tell you a great deal, and neither will the model to some extent. A 45nm Pentium D is way more efficient than a 60nm Core 2 Duo. Also, lower clock rates mean the processor runs cooler which means the fan doesn’t need so much power, which is a plus, and desktops with Solid State Drives instead of traditional Hard Disks use FAR less electricity because there are no moving parts. Also, onboard GPU’s are more power efficient than dedicated ones because they don’t need to be cooled seperately, and also because using a powerful card will require you to install like a 700 watt PSU.
Does anyone know any good laptops that come with word and all that. It needs to be around £250 and cheaper would be amazing. Thankyou!!!
The only ones that comes with Word are Dells. But they rip you off by charging for you anyways.
i just bought a refurbished keyboard online not know it was, its a logitech g11… i mean logitech is a good brand but i cant cancel it, it was on ebay. im kinda freaked out now what do you think?
They are cheap new, so, i guess you must have got one good deal. ~
I am thinking of buying it but i want a dual core cpu. I just want to know if i can just stick a cpu in the socket and it works. The dual core i want is on tigerdirect http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2470587&CatId=2328 and the emachine is http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4914966&CatId=2628
Emachine=Crap…. Power Supplies Fail on them all the time….Rate of Failure is really high..
however the answer to your question is yes.. It’s capable…
Note : I’m not entirely sure on if this is the Soldered LE AMD no where in the documentation does it say that it’s soldered so idk
Soon, I will be attending college (I know, it starts late). I will be commuting by train to and from school everyday. I need a backpack that I can carry my books and laptop in. It has to be well built and safe for my laptop. My laptop is a 15.6" Dell Studio. What would be a good backpack. Thanks.
Oh I just answered to similar question before two minutes.
If you are in college than I think you must not carry that bore and black general laptop bags.
Here are some laptop computer cases which can speak your style and about you as well. Searched a bit and found it … see the source for photos …
